Jan Hein Bax
My career can perhaps best be compared to a trip around the world. I have worked in Europe, North America and Africa. A journey that has taken me to eight countries.
Travel around the world and travel for a wide variety of organizations including family-owned, partnerships, publicly traded and unlisted companies. But also for hybrid companies with both family and private equity investors.
Within these organizations, I held various positions ranging from sales manager to board director, with P&L responsibilities for a variety of revenue levels ranging from 20 million to 1 billion. Organizations that operated business-to-business, consumer and service markets.
My journeys were never casual, but always had a clear mission. The need to achieve a breakthrough. To mention some examples; growth projects in countries such as Germany, the Netherlands and Canada, setting up start-ups in Mozambique, for example, and successfully implementing reorganizations in Spain.
A journey that has given me many new insights. I experienced firsthand how important it is to communicate clearly with people. Because what works in one culture absolutely does not work in another. Not within countries and not within organizations.
I also learned that you have to get to the essence of something quickly. And to achieve something, you will have to be empathetic. Only then will you be able to convey the right message in the right way. Here, it is important to be guided by the occasion, the situation or the urgency. It is never about you. From experience, I also know how inspiring it is to work in multicultural teams of diverse composition. For me, that inclusiveness means harnessing the power of different perspectives. To turn thinking into doing, I always use a practical yet humane approach.
In 2023, I started a new journey. The start of a business of my own. A business that is the sum of all the experiences and insights I gained during my "world trip." All of this has been the basis for Bounce & Steer.
My approach ensures an effective and successful solution
Throughout my career, I have consistently approached assignments with a hands-on strategy. Through clear analysis in the areas of employees, operations and finance, I have led transformations very effectively. Without unnecessary overhead, I have formed coalitions, managed costs, developed talents and sales, and employed a direct communication style.
United Kingdom
Director on a one-tier board of a medium-sized British family business. Built a solid foundation for growth by establishing valuable partnerships on the one hand and introducing innovative concepts to the market on the other. All this contributed to the overall success of the company.
Netherlands
Introduced an approach for business development services at an international law firm with multiple equity partners. Also developed and realized a growth plan with new business concepts.

Spain
Managing Director tasked with successfully completing a €900 million merger, integration and reorganization in Spain. Spearhead of my policy was to streamline operations from different organizations to a unified system. A successful operation that provided an organization with a market-leading position.
Austria and Switzerland
In the role of general manager, made an organization future-proof. Broke established patterns, assembled a new management team, improved internal and external communication and realized a cultural shift. Realized tangible growth in turnover and prestige in just over two years.
